Xenon Sentry was composed with a very specific mental image in mind: a half-living giant mechanical contrivance - something between a ship's computer and a planetary defence system - that has become aware of your presence and is not especially glad about it. Deep, guttural synthesisers establish a sonic environment of genuine menace whilst rich reverberant arpeggios add the sense of scale and complexity appropriate to something enormous and self-aware. The track breathes and pulses with organic-mechanical rhythms that suggest something between a machine and a living creature, and the overall effect is deeply unsettling in a way that is entirely intentional and rather brilliantly achieved.
