Give A Little wears its influences openly and joyfully - this is unambiguously in the tradition of 1960s soul and boogie-woogie, filtered through a production sensibility that's clean and contemporary without diluting any of the original enthusiasm. A rolling piano drives everything forward with confident 12-bar energy whilst a big horn section - saxophone, trombone, and trumpet - adds the kind of full-blooded, improvised character that only real brass can provide. Tambourine and drums keep the groove locked and driving, and the whole thing has a Blues Brothers car chase quality - the sense of something important and slightly chaotic happening at speed, with everyone involved having an absolutely wonderful time.
