Conquer is large enough to require its own weather system. A full orchestral foundation - strings, brass, choir - provides the harmonic and emotional weight of genuinely epic music, whilst aggressive synthesisers and intense electronic drums add the contemporary power that makes the hybrid format so effective for modern content. Elements of dubstep and EDM arrive in the drops, and throughout it all a medieval choir chants 'vae victis' - Latin for 'woe to the vanquished' - which gives the piece both its name and its atmosphere of absolute, overwhelming triumph. Delicate choral sections provide contrast and dynamic range, which makes the enormous moments hit considerably harder.
