Agent Dougwood, whoever they may be, has clearly been briefed on the mission and found it thrilling. Codename Dougwood is a big, camp spy jazz theme that transports you immediately to the swinging 1960s, where every mission was conducted in a dinner jacket and the music was always slightly more exciting than the actual espionage. Latin percussion drives the rhythm with urgent energy, brash horn section punches add dramatic punctuation, and a jazz flute - because of course there is a jazz flute - provides the kind of melodic coolness that the era demanded. Thunderous timpani and triangle add period character, and the overall effect is simultaneously tense and gloriously over-the-top.
