ChipStep occupies a very specific and glorious niche - it's what happens when 8-bit game music discovers dubstep and decides they have rather a lot in common. Buzzing, aggressive bass lines punch through the mix whilst twinkly electronic arpeggios dart around above them, and a pounding beat holds the whole arrangement together with the kind of rhythmic insistence that makes it impossible to stay still. The whole thing loops seamlessly, which was very much the point - this is music that keeps going until you tell it to stop, and frankly you might not want to. It's dark, it's intense, and it's genuinely a bit brilliant.
