Bitterroot Bonnie Track

Bitterroot Bonnie (Larry W. Jones 11/20/2006) (song#4161)
Out on the Bitterroot, she rode the trails above the town
The sound of the hoot owl’s hoot was the only sound around
Searching for her cowboy to kiss her tears away
Nothing could destroy her dreams of yesterday
|
Bitterroot Bonnie they named her
Riding in the sun
For her cowboy, Bonnie yearned
Bitterroot Bonnie they named her
Riding in the sun
Waiting for her cowboy to return
|
They said he was a wrangler who roamed from town to town
Some said he was a danger who only brought her down
But he was just a cowboy who faded in the mist
And Bitterroot Bonnie dreamed of the cowboy she had kissed
|
Bitterroot Bonnie they named her
Riding in the sun
For her cowboy, Bonnie yearned
Bitterroot Bonnie they named her
Riding in the sun
Waiting for her cowboy to return
|
Now the trails above the town she no longer rides
Dreams no longer follow her around
Now yonder rides a cowboy looking for his bride
His tears are falling to the ground
Bitterroot Bonnie has faded in the mist
No longer dreaming of her cowboy’s kiss
|
Bitterroot Bonnie they named her
Riding in the sun
For her cowboy, Bonnie yearned
Bitterroot Bonnie they named her
Riding in the sun
Waiting for her cowboy to return
