An Old Salty Dog Track

An Old Salty Dog (Larry W. Jones 09/15/2006) (song#4013)
Well, I’ve been thinking of buying a boat
A little cabin cruiser that knows how to float
My hopes are sinking in love’s drowning tears
I need a vacation from all of these cares
I could fly away to somewhere remote
But I envy a sleepy turtle on an old log
So, I’ve been thinking of buying a boat
And floating away like an old salty dog
I wanna go where it’s warm, no need for a coat
Forget about love that was lost in the fog
I’ll ride out the storm in my cozy new boat
Just a man lost in time like an old salty dog
Well, big city life is too fast a pace
This cowboy’s heart it can’t console
The past is now just love’s lost race
That boat will do a slow rock and roll
Every time I read those lines she wrote
My heart can feel that harpoon log
So, I’ve been thinking of buying a boat
And floating away like an old salty dog
I wanna go where it’s warm, no need for a coat
Forget about love that was lost in the fog
I’ll ride out the storm in my cozy new boat
Just a man lost in time like an old salty dog
I’ll ride out the storm in my cozy new boat
Just a man lost in time like an old salty dog
