Starting in February 2021, I created a series called Spontaneous Musings. These would be individual pieces of Ambient music that were produced spontaneously and didn't fit the "psychedelic/kosmische" sound my main channel had. As I've been working from home since the start of the pandemic, the series started as a means of creating music that could block out any distractions whilst not being distracting in itself. As the series progressed, it became more of a "musical journal" with pieces inspired by whatever I was reading or thinking about at the time.
With all of these pieces, an idea would pop into my head, I'd work out all of the semantics (what sounds I'd use, tempo, key, the rhythm/mode of each sound/instrument) and then piece it all together in my DAW. The end result was then published to Bandcamp either later that same day, or the next morning.
This collection represents the first five volumes of these musings, recorded between February and May 2021:
Four Degrees Below: Recorded when the outside temperature was excacly that.
Colourful Connections: Where each instrument has some connection to the next.
Rose-Tinted Memories: A slow, nostalgic piece that sounds like a jazz ensemble playing slowly in an abandoned warehouse
*: Inspired by a story pertaining to how Douglas Adams came upon the number 42 in his "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" series.
The Silent Majority: An observation on the so-called "Culture Wars", the full explanation of which can be read here
