Morgenrot

Biography

There are debts that are paid with pure art. In the summer of 1996, the raw distortion of grunge saved a restless teenager's life: Bernuy. Right then, he made a silent promise to give back to the world the salvation that music had gifted him. After two decades of composing and refining in the shadows, Morgenrot was born—not as a conventional band, but as a blood pact with the muses of rock.

The melodies of this project are a ritual journey where the shadows of post-punk, the acoustic sorrow of dark folk, and the vitalist rage of grunge collide. From this alchemy emerges the experimental sound that the band defined as neorock. The songs on their debut album, Mister Nobody, are the result of countless hours of work, proving how a professional sound can be achieved with limited means, immense passion, and sheer effort.

The gravitational core of this journey has been driven by its founder, Miguel Lazaro Bernuy (vocalist and guitarist), who found his most steadfast companions in Borja Planelles—the drummer commanding the project’s Merseybeat heartbeat—and Indigo Wolf, the multi-instrumentalist maestro (guitar, bass, programming) and producer behind the post-album singles.

Inspired by the primal spirit of rock and blues, Bernuy wishes for his compositions to be part of free culture. For this reason, the universe of Mister Nobody breathes under a Creative Commons Attribution license (CC-BY). Miguel built this project with a crystal-clear vision: for Morgenrot's music to belong to their fans as well. He wants you to make these songs yours, to use them in your short films, to create your own covers, and to play them anywhere in the world where a restless soul needs to hear them. Sharing the fire is the best way to keep it alive.

Currently, Morgenrot dwells in the shadows, experiencing a hiatus brought on by the physical and mental exhaustion of the road. Yet, the creative itch remains deeply present, and the temptation to return to the stage haunts these three musicians daily. A pure, unconditional love for music is simply too powerful a force to ignore for long.

"We are Morgenrot. The red dawn after the longest night. And our tribe keeps growing." — Miguel Bernuy.
