Eleven café tracks in three groups: five jazz fusion cuts, five lounge pieces and one jazz funk closer. The fact worth knowing before you pick anything: all five fusion tracks are in D minor. Nothing else in this catalogue has a whole sub-cluster sitting in one key, and those same five are also the longest tracks here — three minutes five to four minutes exactly, with the Cocktail Bar take the longest thing released under this name so far. If you need background that outlasts a normal cue without a loop point, that group is the reason this album exists. The lounge five go the other way: four different keys, two of them with no drum kit and no measurable tempo at all, carried by piano and bass alone. Among the tracks that do keep a pulse, the range runs from ninety-two on the slow rainy-night piece to a hundred and thirty-six on the Midnight Club cut, which is also the only lounge track here in a minor key. The funk closer is the shortest thing in the set at two minutes five.
