Description

A joyful noise live in the studio today with the United Kingdom's finest purveyors of psychedelic noise. Matthew Bower has been part of such great institutions as Skullflower, Total, Ax, Ascension and others, and in his latest project Sunroof! he explores a dreamier (yet still brain-frying) mode of drone bliss. As if that weren't enough, we also get a rare stateside visit as Leeds-based Vibracathedral Orchestra, another continually-productive and amazing troupe of sonic explorers. A past avalanche of recordings (many self-released) have revealed the VCO to be among the northern hemisphere's true torch-bearers of the free-rock aesthetic that say, the Dead C have held the fort down on in New Zealand. Drones, bells, acoustic instruments, cheap casio, reeds, drum circles, and sounds totally alien and unidentified have all found their way into their records. Live in the WFMU studios today, with Sunroof! in tow, no one can tell what exactly is going to happen, or who will be involved. But it will be a definite headphone experience.
