The
Moot are a party band from Huddersfield in the UK. The band are Clare
Dowling on vocals and guitar and Eryl Whiteley on drums. They are sometimes
joined by Josh on bass.
Clare
and Eryl started the band in August 2005 after some successful jamming
in an old creamery in Bladnoch, Scotland. The band have also always
played cover songs in their set. The Moot played their first gig in
Huddersfield in October 2005 at the Rock Cafe and since then have played
over 150 gigs across the UK at pubs, clubs, festivals and events.
In
2006 The Moot hosted a jam night in Huddersfield at Bar Amour for 3
months and put on live music nights where they invited other original
bands and artists to play their music. The nights were a real success.
On the 28th of April 2006 The Moot headlined at a blues festival in
Holmfirth at The Picturedrome.
In
September 2006 they played to a packed tent at Thimbleberry Music Festival
in County Durham where they had 3000 people bouncing to their music.
"Snuggle Up" was played on the BBC Raw Talent Show the same
weekend where they were described as " A Very,Very good band"
by Alan Raw.
In
June 2007 the band took part in a battle of bands competition and the
Gardening Club, Rock Garden in London where they won two heats and came
overall 3rd in the national competition. In September 2007 The Moot
returned to Thimbleberry Music Festival for their September Festival.
In
Febuary 2008 The Moot took part in the BBC Upstaged Comptetion and reached
the semi final. They played for a total of 11 hours over two days in
a glass box in the middle of Bristol and the competion could be watched
live on the BBC website where fans voted online. Highlights were shown
on BBC 3 and the BBC-i player. Videos were also posted on the BBC's
Youtube Channel.
The
Moot played again at Thimbleberry Music Festival in June 2008. On 5.7.08
the band supported The Beat and on 6.7.08 they supported Hayseed Dixie
at the Holmfirth Picturedrome. They also supported The Blockheads on
12.12.08 at The Picturedrome.
In
2009 The Moot played over 75 gigs, mainly cover gigs around pubs and
clubs in the North of England. In April 2010 The Moot also supported
The Saw Doctors and The Levellers at the Holmfirth Picturedrome. source: official website
