Enchanters Nightshade Track

This track commenced with a series of sounds created using my synths, played by an Enchanters Nightshade plant during various recording sessions at different times of the day. I would sit with the plant, inviting it to share its wisdom and magic through the sounds it helped to create. The initial soundscape reflected the plant's historical medicinal and mystical essence, with its properties known to alleviate physical ailments like rheumatism, gout, and infections, alongside its enchanting lore tied to ancient Greek mythology and Scottish Highlands aphrodisiac charms​.

The raw sounds were then edited, paving the way for human played instrumentation and vocalisations to be fused and mixed into the plant’s song. The interspecies collaboration formed the core of this track and the album, embodying a fusion of ancient wisdom with modern expression. The composition transcends into a medicine song, where the gentle whispers of the Enchanters Nightshade, enriched with flavonoids and tannins known for their healing properties, meld seamlessly with the human artistry, delivering a harmonious narrative about the magic and wisdom of this being​​.

The track serves as a beautiful narrative where the old world and the new come together, each teaching and learning from the other in a melodious flow of healing and understanding. Through this song, the Enchanters Nightshade plant and I invite listeners into a realm where the magical essence of traditional botanical wisdom intertwines with modern musical expression, creating a unique space for reflection, healing, and a deeper connection to the natural world around us.
