The Marian Circle Drum Brigade—also known as The M Circle Drum Brigade—is a musical project founded in 2010 by Michael J. Bostwick, known for his work with Pipe Choir, PC-ONE, and P C III. Inspired by Bostwick’s deep appreciation for marching band drumlines, the Drum Brigade was conceived as a virtual marching band, blending the energy and precision of traditional drumlines with contemporary percussion creativity.
Launched in the summer of 2010, The M Circle Drum Brigade serves as both a creative outlet and a tribute to the power of rhythm and percussion. The project emphasizes collaboration, community, and the joy of drumming, bringing to life complex, driving rhythms that capture the spirit of marching bands while pushing the boundaries of modern drumming.
The group has released a self-titled album featuring six original tracks, available for free on SoundCloud and the Free Music Archive. Embracing an open-source philosophy, The M Circle Drum Brigade’s music is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license, encouraging sharing, remixing, and educational use.
Through this project, Michael Bostwick continues to celebrate and expand the tradition of drumline music, connecting listeners and musicians around the world with vibrant, accessible percussion.
