Sunil Santha (14 April 1915 – 11 April 1981) was the pioneer who embedded Sinhala folklore in Sinhala Music. His significant efforts caused another tradition of folk music to be formed but unfortunately he had to leave his life earlier before his task was fulfilled and nobody was there to
continue it rather than sinking once again into the Indian Musical tidals..Sunil Santha strived to refine Sinhala Musical Literature based on the Hela Basa of kumarathunga Munidasa. Many Sinhala songs composed by him years ago are still very popular among Sri Lankan music lovers. "Mihikatha Nalawala", "Kokilayange", "Bondure", "Suwanda Rosa Mal Nela", "Lanka Lanka" & "Ridee Walawe" are most popular songs composed by Sunil Santha.
