As a member of the Lounge Lizards and leader of the Jazz Passengers, Roy Nathanson was a moving force in 1970s downtown jazz. He has since ventured into writing poetry and radio plays, while extending the Passengers to have Elvis Costello, Deborah Harry and others sing his songs. His recent Sotto Voce band has furthered his interest in using text and verse in his music. Roy dropped by WFMU to perform songs old and new, and also told a story or two, accompanied by bassist Tim Kiah.
