Contact artistIn which Holmes draws out a suspect by placing an ad in the paper. An old lady is followed.
Well Holmes, he put an advertisement in the morning papers
To say we’d found a wedding ring in the street
It said to come to Baker Street that evening, to get it
So that evening our vile murderer we’d meet!
Well Holmes he had a copy of the ring made, ready
To show to any person who might come
Chances were, it might turn quite unpleasant, that evening
So Holmes told me to clean and load my gun!
(Woah) (hey) The advertisement will
(Woah) (hey) Draw the culprit right out
And there’ll be someone at our door
Holmes and I were sure
Just after eight o’clock we heard the ring of the doorbell
The door opened, an old lady was revealed
She said the ring had been misplaced by Sally, her daughter
She left with it with Holmes hot on her heels!
Holmes followed the old lady
In his ulster and cravat
She limped along quite footsore
Then loudly hailed a cab
13 Duncan Street
In Houndsditch she did cry
On the cab's rear Homles did perch
As the lady got inside
They rattled through the streets
Till they reached the destination
But the cab was suddenly empty
much to Holmeses frustration
‘I say, Holmes….. you don’t mean to say do you’ I cried out, in amazement
‘From a moving cab our old lady she did leap?!’
‘Old woman be damned!’ said Holmes, and he said it quite crossly
It is a man of action that we seek!
Holmes and Watson are on the case…
