Igor Ballereau - Lettres à des amies-enfants
Five songs for voice, flute, clarinet, violin, viola and cello
Jody Pou; Ensemble SIC
Throughout his entire adult life, Lewis Carroll wrote an uncountable amount of letters to his numerous child-friends, mostly little girls. These letters are undoubtly love letters of a very remarkable kind.
Based on excerpts from a few of them, these songs stand as a musical metaphor for Carroll’s mind and undertaking; a mind intensely caught in between deep melancholy and colorful extravaganza, between childhood as inhabited by angels and death as an unacceptable promise for all.

Reminds me of the works of Luciano Berio and Meredith Monk. Very good !
