Description

Previously a cassette-only release on Cirrus Oxide (Chapel Hill, NC),
this recording explores the diverse languages of the guitar. Ivanovich
(as directed by Chuck Johnson of Idyll Swords and Spatula fame) focuses
primarily on a guitar's vocabulary and gestures, not just its sonic
possibilities. The music on this CD is divided into three areas:
acoustic, electric, and prepared guitar. These three areas cover a wide
variety of influences including Elizabeth Cotten, Skip James, Robbie
Basho, John Fahey, the guitars of "Lick My Decals Off" - era Captain
Beefheart and the Magic Band, the reeds of mid-70's Evan Parker, Asian
lutes and zithers, such as the koto or santoor.- Amish Records
