Description

San Francisco's current crop of "out rock" is a bountiful one indeed, but Deerhoof may continue to reign as the supreme purveyors of strange sounds. Teetering between acoustic beauty and noisy chaos, their musical vocabulary is a feast of both freedom and tight composition. Never did a band hark Evol-era Sonic Youth, Thinking Fellers Union, and the Shaggs with such playful abandon and serious perfection, tying together loose bits with frantic blasts of the Who's swagger to boot. They return to Brian's show on the heels of a release of their best disc yet, "Apple O".Satomi Matsuzaki: Vocals, Bass, Greg Saunier: Drums and Vocal, Chris Cohen: Guitar, John Dieterich: GuitarĀ -Brian Turner / WFMU playlist
