Catherine Foster has been performing music from Southeastern Europe for almost 30 years and has been playing trumpet, clarinet and saxophone with Zlatne Uste Balkan Brass Band since 1990. She traveled with the group to the annual festival of brass bands in Guča, Serbia in 1991, 2003, and in 2010
to its 50th-anniversary festival.
Catherine had the good fortune while in Serbia to work with members of the Zlatni Prsti Orkestar and the Vranjski Biseri Orkestar, past winners of the Guča Brass Band Festival. She also had the opportunity to work with the Macedonian Rom trumpet player Nešat Zekirov during his stay in New York in 2009. Over her 21 years with Zlatne Uste she has performed nationally for folk dance communities, general public events and for celebrations in the Serbian community.
