About Music from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston
Located in the Fenway area of Boston, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is home to the nation's longest-running museum music program. Concerts are held in the museum’s intimate and atmospheric Tapestry Room gallery and feature performances by the museum’s own Gardner Chamber Orchestra, world-renowned chamber music groups and soloists, and some of today's most talented emerging artists.
Under the direction of Scott Nickrenz, the Sunday Concert Series and Young Artists Showcase concerts fill the Gardner with music nearly every Sunday afternoon from September through May. The museum also hosts jazz and new music concerts in the Jazz at the Gardner and Avant Gardner series on select Thursday evenings as part of Gardner After Hours.
Since 2006, the Gardner's free classical podcast The Concert has attracted an international audience for its high-caliber programs of music recorded live in the Tapestry Room. In addition, the museum's extensive online music library offers a great way to get a taste of the concert series, enjoy favorite performances from years past, or preview some of the upcoming season's artists.

New Classical Selections from Boston's Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum hosts an active program of classical music performances year-round. With the Spring season at a close, they've found some time to go through their archive of recordings and hand-pick this incredible selection just for the Free Music Archive. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum hosts a weekly Creative Commons classical music podcast called "The Concert" as well a large archive of downloadable recordings at their online music library. This Summer's picks include compositions from : Bach, Beethoven, Dvořák, Handel, Ives, Janáček, Mozart, Schubert, and more! Tickets to the Fall concert season go on sale to museum members July 11, and to the general public on July 25.

ISGM Fall Selections & New Performance Space
As the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum prepares to open its innovative new performance space, the museum's music program curates a mix of Fall Selections from their Creative Commons classical music podcast The Concert.
In the tradition of Music at the Gardner, works by Brahms, Beethoven, Debussy, Dvorak, Haydn, Charles Ives, Mozart, Carl Nielsen, Pachelbel, Schubert, Schumann, and Camille Saint-Saens are brought to life by some of the world's foremost and emerging classical music performers, including the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Claremont Trio and ISGM's own resident chamber orchestra, A Far Cry, formed by local music students. On January 22nd, the Claremonts -- an award-winning piano trio of Donna Kwong and sisters Emily Bruskin (violin) and Julia Bruskin (cello) -- will open the new season and inaugurate the new space with performances of Mozart, Mendelssohn, and a Sean Shepherd world premier in honor of Calderwood Hall (link).
Calderwood Hall is the 300-seat performance space at the heart of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum's innovative new wing designed by Renzo Piano. In her will, Isabella Stewart Gardner stipulated that the museum -- a Venetian palace and her former home -- must be left exactly as she designed and arranged, and so the new wing is an exciting opportunity for the museum to expand in keeping with her will. The hall is designed with acoustics in mind, and -- like the Tapestry Room that previously housed Gardner concerts and is currently under renovation -- there is no stage separated the performers from the audience. Its opening is "one of the most eagerly anticipated developments in Boston's musical life" (Boston.com) and you can read more about it at buildingproject.gardnermuseum.org.
