Music Submissions --> Artists  ::  Labels  ::  Curators  ::  Editors

::  ARTISTS  ::
Are you an Artist who would like to share your music with us, and/or a member of an existing FMA artist?  Our curators would love to hear from you!  Most of the music on the FMA is uploaded by one of our curators. At their discretion a curator may grant Artist Accounts allowing you to upload your original music directly and curate your own artist profile.

Please email artists "at" freemusicarchive.org with:

1. URL to the work you would like to share. Keep in mind that the FMA is a curated library as well as a nonprofit with limited resources.  We suggest that you pick out what you might like to use as a first impression of your work, whether it's a song, mix or album(s).

2. Please indicate if there is a particular FMA curator who has showcased your work in the past, or who might be particularly interested in your music.

3. Rather than restrict music to within our walled garden, we prefer to host music that can be shared legally.  If your work is under an open license such as a Creative Commons license, please let us know by including a link to the license.

4. FMA Username (if you've already signed-up)

We do our best to listen to all submissions.  However, as a small non-profit, we do not have the capacity to respond to all submissions, let alone to host all of the good music in the world.  If you do not hear from us, that does not mean that your submission has been rejected; it will remain in the queue for future curators to draw upon as we continue to grow.

:: LABELS  ::

Please email artists "at" freemusicarchive.org with:

1. URL to the work(s) you would like to share. Keep in mind that the FMA is a curated library as well as a nonprofit with limited resources so we rarely host entire label discographies. We suggest that you pick out what you might like to use as a first impression of your catalog. A greatest hits / sampler mix can be a great introduction to the FMA.

2. Please indicate if there is a particular FMA curator who has showcased your work in the past, or who might be particularly interested in your music.

3. Rather than restrict music to within our walled garden, we prefer to host music that can be shared legally.  If your catalog is under an open license such as a Creative Commons license, please let us know by including a link to the license.

4. FMA Username (if you've already signed-up)

:: CURATORS  ::

FMA Curators are typically non-profit arts organizations such as radio stations, festivals, venues, museums and libraries with an established record of presenting high-quality audio.  Curators are featured on the site's top-nav and maintain unique entry portals to the site (i.e.) through which users can access their sub-libraries. Here are some of our existing curators.

Please email curator "at" freemusicarchive.org and it would be helpful to include the following:

   1. Do you have the ability to license your catalogue under terms that allow for free sharing, preferably under a Creative Commons license (http://creativecommons.org/license)?

  2. FMA Curators typically launch with a sampler that is representative of the breadth and quality of their library.  This might consist of a mix of 50 songs, and/or 10 albums' worth of music.  We will need to hear what type of music you are offering before granting curator access, so if you already have something in mind for this -- even if it's just a draft -- please send a URL (do not attach). MP3s should be 256kbps and tagged -- we want to make sure that our curators have the ability to present music with context including information, images, and metadata.

  3. How often do you anticipate making new contributions to the FMA?

::  EDITORS  ::
FMA Editors contribute Creative Commons music recommendations and blog posts while helping us keep our library's metadata up to date.  To apply to become an Editor on the FMA, please email curator "at" freemusicarchive.org with a writing sample (i.e. an album review or sample blog post) or a description of what you'd like to help with
