Dream Aeterna sits in the territory where dreams and nightmares blur into something genuinely compelling. Soft vocals and a reverb-laden soundscape create an eerie tranquility on the surface, whilst an undercurrent of dissonance and unease runs through the whole piece with the quiet persistence of something you can't quite ignore. A haunting choir and soul-stirring cello paint the broad emotional landscape, toy-like bells and synth voices inject moments of uncanny whimsy, and a growling low synth bass lurks in the lower frequencies with the presence of something large and not entirely friendly. The gentle percussion echoes like forgotten memories.
