Rapture Coming Gotta Go Track

A large slice of American evangelical Christianity believes in a literal, imminent Rapture — believers physically lifted from earth before a period of tribulation — and reads current world chaos as signs it's approaching. This view is actually quite modern, invented by John Nelson Darby in the 1830s and popularized by the Left Behind franchise. Catholics, Orthodox Christians, and most mainstream Protestants reject it entirely, noting the word "rapture" doesn't appear in the Bible and the whole concept was largely made up in the 19th century. Many younger Christians worry that Rapture theology is actively harmful — if God is about to airlift you out, why care about the planet, the poor, or the future?
