Nanjing 37 - 1937 Nanking China Massacre Track

The Nanjing Massacre, also known as the Rape of Nanking, took place in December 1937 during the Second Sino-Japanese War when Japanese troops captured Nanjing, the then capital of China. Over a period of six weeks, an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 civilians and unarmed soldiers were killed, and tens of thousands of women were raped.


Westerners in the city documented the atrocities and established the Nanjing Safety Zone to protect some civilians. The massacre has had lasting effects on Sino-Japanese relations and remains a contentious historical topic.
