Salute the Majesty of Bob Wills by The Pine Valley Cosmonauts

Album Description

Join the PVC as they erect a worthy monument to one of the most versatile and beloved figures in all of American music. You get 19 Bob Wills nuggets that show the breadth of his musical magic, from C & W, to western swing, to jazz, to blues, and to all points in between.

Here's the lowdown: In addition to the usual crew, Sub-Commandante Mark Durante (Waco Brothers) sits in on pedal steel and revives the spirit of Leon McAuliffe, and some crack local players add tasty guitar, fiddle, horns, and piano.

Here's the kicker: handling the vocal duties is a powerhouse line-up of greats and near-greats. Here's a quick listing of some of the guest stars: Texas legends Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Alejandro Escovedo, Kelly Hogan (Jody Grind, Rock*A*Teens), Robbie Fulks, Bob Boyd (from the archetypal Chicago swing masters The Sundowners), Sally Timms (Mekons), Brett Sparks (Handsome Family), Neko Case, Edith Frost, The Meat Purveyors, and Rico Bell (Mekon accordion man).

All of this masterful stuff is contained within a package of super-cool Langford art that is worth the price of admission alone!!! It is a spot-on classic and puts mainstream country tributes to the masters that they have otherwise forsaken to shame. Word.
