Charlie Looker of Extra Life and Zs formed Seaven Teares as a side project a couple of years back. The name comes from a 400 year old John Dowland composition, which gives a hint of the direction the group takes on their just-released record "Power Ballads": pop music played on acoustic instruments, deeply infused with medieval chamber music but ultramodern in the end. The band also includes mezzo-soprano Amirtha Kidambi, multi-instrumentalist Robbie Lee, and percussionist Russell Greenberg. Dan Bodah was happy to welcome them to the WFMU airwaves on April 29th.
