Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Eleni Mandell has been making critically-acclaimed music since 1998. Her eighth album, “I Can See The Future,” released last year on Yep Roc, marks a departure from her usual bluesy/jazzy, noir-filled songs. Written and recorded during her pregnancy with twins, it is chock-full of breezy, likable retro-pop that reflects her new life as a single mother. But while the album marks a new phase of Mandell’s life, she is still adept at crafting compelling storylines, as well as using her voice’s versatility and nuance to breathe another dimension into her songs.
