The valley of Baten El Ghoul, in southern Iraq, is located over the ancient Sumerian city of Eridu, located at Tell Abu Shahrain. The area is known as the "Belly of the Beast" or "The Devil's Hole". Based upon Sumerain King lists, Eridu is believed to be the earlist city in southern Mesopotamia.
