Swing & Bebop Jazz, Vol. 2 Album

Ten swing and trad-jazz cues split between two ideas of the same era. Four big band numbers — a brisk dinner swing under two minutes, an uptempo café cut with the kit pushed forward, a flat late-set piece for long background use, and a slow ballad at eighty-three beats per minute. Then six Dixieland tracks, hotter and more percussive, running from a walking-pace restaurant swing to two fast ones at a hundred and fifty-two.

The useful split is not big band versus Dixieland, it is how much drum kit is in the mix. The big band cuts hold a level and stay out of the way; the trad ones have a busy kit and real dynamic push. Pick the first group for rooms with conversation, the second for footage that needs to move.
