Two saxophone cuts and seven smooth jazz ones, and this is the most uniform set in the catalogue: seven of the nine sit between eighty-six and a hundred and three beats per minute, four are in A minor, six run past three minutes. That uniformity is the product, not an accident — it is what a room needs when nothing should draw attention. The useful information is which number each track owns. One is the flattest level here and does not rise or fall once. One is the longest at three minutes twenty-three, built to cover a full bar service without a loop point. One is the slowest at eighty-six but busier underneath than its tempo suggests. One puts the groove further forward than anything else, and one runs at a hundred and thirty-six — thirty-three faster than the rest of the album, the only track here that actually moves.
