Hey, That's Not Normal Track

If/When

Some people are rich like you wouldn’t believe; hey, that’s not normal
Some people don’t have what they need to survive …
Some people are forced to sell their bodies for sex …
While others live lives of wealth and excess …

Some people hate people who are LGBT …
Some people hate people from different countries …
Some people hate people of a different colour …
Some people hate people for the religion they follow …

Some people treat animals with unforgivable cruelty …
Some they kill for sport, some die in laboratories …
Slaughtered in the billions for human consumption …
Such short unnatural lives of suffering …

Some people think that poverty’s a legitimate punishment …
An incentive against being feckless and ignorant …
The idle poor, we scorn and despise them …
Yet the idle rich, we aspire to be like them …

Some people think that progress comes from competition …
And that economic growth is the answer to everything …
Some people think they can save the world just by voting …
Or by signing petitions, waiting and hoping ..

The ice caps are melting, we can’t stop what we’ve started …
And we’ve used up half of our last hundred harvests …
We’ve already begun the next mass extinction …
Yet we can’t stop destroying our life support system …

I don’t know if we can stop this war against nature …
I don’t know if we can rescue this world from disaster …
I don’t know if there’s a future for the human species …
I don’t know if we’ve already stepped off the precipice …

But I choose to believe that we can make this world better
I hope that we can all live peacefully together
I think that in The Conquest of Bread lies the answer
And I know that the revolution must be something that we can dance to
