Biography
The MetróFolk Band is a traditional string ensemble consisting of
violin, kontra (3-string viola) and bass. It is growing to be the
preeminent folk group in New York City and the surrounding areas due to
the youthful enthusiasm of the members.Our repertoire includes Hungarian, Romanian, Gypsy and Jewish music
from the Carpathian Basin, covering the traditional as well as the more
modern repertoire.
We are available for performances, parties and weddings. The band
has a full 50-minute show of Transylvanian traditional music and dance;
it is joined by two dancers from the Talpra Magyar Folk Dance Group.
