Like stepper dub? Like melodica? Then you’re going to love this new EP from 4 of the best and most prolific dub artists from the netlabel community in France.

Phoniandflore (aka P.A.F) starts the musical journey with the original mix. With a driving bassline, swirling eastern groove and melodic melody, P.A.F treats us to some classic stepper goodness.

Additional remixes by Shan-a-Shan, Injham and Jideh High take the track to additional heights. Injham refines the beat a little, whilst keeping true to the original groove. Shan-a-Shan treats us to a more liquid sound and Jideh High takes this one stage further with a distinctly watery dub.

This is French electrodub at its finest.

27B is a DJ/Producer out of our native Glasgow, UK. Whilst not being involved in the city's pre-club night Trench and a radio show on Subcity called INDUSTRY (which we were recently featured on) he creates infectious electronic music aimed at the dancefloor. His first EP for Section 27 called "Signal Jammer" is a bitesize little release and a break away into some more experimental territory for the artist. Over its 15 minutes, Signal Jammer incorporates elements of house, techno, glitch and dark ambient sounds all blended seamlessly into one solid collection.

Trans Alp is back with new influences. We witness his 2010 version of electronic Dub and diverse steps here. The EP goes a step further whilst the musician uses a mixture of "sawtooth shredder" and fragile electronica aestetics at the same time. Unusually voluminous, yet clear and structured it delivers his own definition of the current 'hype machines', utilizing digital and analogue machines.

THE STORY :

Summer 2009 : LibreCommeLair (LCL), a french online music label, opens a free creative commons sound bank filled by the artists who collaborated or released on the label.

To spread the new, the label decides to organize a remix contest based on the sound bank.

January 2011 : The contest entries are now closed, we were initialy supposed to make a pre-selection of the tracks we received, but we just couldn't because of the variety and quality of tracks : dub, reggae, electroacustic, d'n'b, house, electronica... So we let the Jury decide !

Speaking about it, a jury composed of Netaudio and Creative Commons music actors will make a final selection that will be released as a compilation on LibreCommeLair.
The Jury will be : FreeMusicArchive, Notheen, Subflow, DivergenceFM, INQ, Netwaves, Netaudio Berlin, AQuietBump, iD.EOLOGY and Dogmazic.
