YACHT is capitalized for a reason. As the band explains on the website, "The word "yacht" out of our capitalized context can refer to commodity fetishism and an advanced capitalist culture that YACHT has prided itself in avoiding since its conception." (teamyacht) Thus, when not referring to the boat, but instead to the "band, business, and belief system," all capital letters must be used.
Jona Bechtolt, former Blow beatmaster, launched YACHT in 2003 as a venue for both his musical and philosophical endeavors. In 2008 YACHT became a joint enterprise with the introduction Claire L. Evans. The band continues to make pop-sensitive electronic dance music in the DFA vein, from whom they garnered a record deal after recording "Summer Song," a love poem to James Murphy. Their first DFA record, "See Mystery Lights" was partially inspired by their spiritual explorations in Marfa, Texas, many of which they shared in their live WFMU session on the waterpod.
