THF Drenching is a free improvisor and composer of musique concrète, based in Manchester, England.  As a dictaphone-player, he was one fifth of Derek Bailey's final band Limescale, and has played with many of the UK's best improvisors.  He was also half of the bricks and dictaphone duo Pleasure-Drenching Improvers.  As a poet (writing under his slave name, Stuart Calton) he's published four books.  Three came out on Barque Press and one is self-published.  His fifth is awaiting publication.  As a composer, he's completed thirteen albums of musique concrète, electronic music and various dubious overdubbed semi-improvised amalgams.  These have been on sale at Fenland Hi-Brow Recordings for years, but are now being made freely available on Free Music Archive instead.  I'm supposed to be a Communist after all.  Plus there's a recession on, right?  Is your Moms sending you money?

I dunno wot to say, evry time I drop the needle on these trax I start hallunicatin like I'm at Maggie Thatcher's funeral, & me n my mates is all laughin n dancin n goin up n down on the same beat, til me mum starts shriekin at us to turn it down or she'll sell off my beats. OY I sez, foke off, I said I wouldn't spend the dole cheque on music an I didn't, did I? The Drenching's bloody well free now, an it's a free country more or less, an anyway I think she's startin to like this shite, reminds her of Prince she says when he was still in good nick.

Shocked to have found this! So prolific and generous. Amazing! Shame the world is not communist yet. If this is to lead the way somehow, good times are ahead.

i've just listened to three of these albums (bitches in winter, cup tree, food miles) and each one is so distinct, while all of them are great. what a ride, and we get it for free! thank you for making this available.
