Formed in 2004 by singer/guitarist Saskia van der Giessen, the Amsterdam-based Labasheeda blend poppy melodies with bursts of noise and distorted violin.
After the release of their well-received first record Charity Box (2006), bassist David Jackson left the band, while Arne Wolfswinkel joined as a second guitar player. In this bass-less line-up Labasheeda recorded a 10”/CD-EP, titled A Few of a Population (2009).

The band turned into a four-piece when Thanos Fiotadis (bass) and DyanRamekers (drums) became the new rhythm section. In this line-up the band released the Circle 7” (2009), followed a year later by their second LP/CD, The Twilight State, which again received enthusiastic reviews.
The band often ventures onto foreign soil and toured the Czech Republic this spring. Other countries where Labasheeda has played over the years are the UK, Germany, and Canada, among others.
The band, now a bass-less trio again, released their new full-length CastfatShadows and a split 7" with Wavezero in April 2012.
