Jim Coleman, along with friends Kirsten McCord, Phil Puleo and John Anderson stopped by WFMU to chat with Dan Bodah and play songs off his new release TREES.
Jim Coleman's compelling musical voice has been well-known since his 1990s role on samplers in seminal NYC band Cop Shoot Cop. His work has gradually shifted toward soundtracks and collages over the passing years. On his standout 2012 album "Trees," Jim assembled a crack team of musicians adept at crafting sweeping musical ecstasies in which it's almost impossible to tell where the electronic textures give way to the sheets of acoustic sound. His team included folks like Phil Puleo, drummer for Cop Shoot Cop and Swans; cellist Kirsten McCord; Dawn McCarthy of Faun Fables; and Ellen Fullman, with her self-created long stringed instrument.
