Jessie Torrisi played drums in a dozen New York rock bands (Unisex Salon, Laptop, Les Fleurs Tragiques) before recording her debut album. The title, Brûler Brûler, “burn burn” in French, says it all.
Indie pop at its best, it's been hailed as “circus-like,” “electric,” & the “Best Americana Album of 2009.” The record's is a mad dash for passion through the streets of Brazil, Brooklyn, & New Orleans--places Jessie's lived in the last decade.
Jessie now lives in Austin & tours frequently with her band The Please, Please Me. Onstage, she's known to sing from behind the drums, make bandmates switch instruments, & pull the audience up to play kazoo. After making the switch to frontwoman, she's never going back.
