Birds of Paradise (1 Albums, 5 Tracks)
- Hannah Lewis and Roy Vucino.
Birds of Paradise embrace new sounds yet hold on to the romanticism of a past era. There is a ghost in the machine, and the ghost is love. Roy Vucino & Hannah Lewis got married in California, wrote some tunes in Istanbul and used their savings to travel and record across America. The band immersed itself in the poetic universe of Murakami's books, Fassbinder films and Dada art as they embarked on a road trip, with no end in sight. They pay homage to their 70s heroes Bill Fay and Lee Hazelwood, with their melancholic voices. But in order to look ahead to the evolution of tomorrow's pop music the duo had to imagine its own version of romantic pop after having absorbed a proper dose of electronica, weed, British post punk and hip hop.
Lewis works on documentary films about preservation of tradition & culture. Vucino records and writes music for fashion, theatre, film and television.
