CURATOR:

Chicago's Bird Names are a lo-fi avant-pop troupe led by the prolific David Lineal. A warped playfulness, simultaneously joyous and disturbing, inhabits Bird Names' music.

The first time I saw Bird Names, they were holding some sort of picnic on the floor of AS220 in Providence. The potluck was not well planned. Somebody forgot the bass amplifier. But everyone seemed to be having a good time, blowing their horns, strumming along, and singing even if there weren't any words.

Wish I belonged to a lo-fi avant pop troupe. When will my life begin? At least I can pretend. Hey! Where are my dried-peas-in-a-tin?
