Recovering from a Road traffic accident and it is taking its sweet time!
April 02, 2016
I am fit enough to work in some circumstances, and work is unusual in terms of movement. I have a great left hand, but using it is hard work, and writing by hand is ‘difficult’. By work I mean I could not lift a bushell (12 ft x 12/16 pieces) of pine framing wood, like I would once do, but then most people couldn’t do that. They use fork lifts these days for that!
I tried to put my new(ish) motorcycle on it’s centre stand yesterday, and it is not just a knack, I am just not fit enough. The damaged muscles have attrified to the extent that I can’t do it, and it takes such a knack to do anyway. I could actually feel the separation of the gristle holding my shoulders broken clavicle together. Not that any of this stops me from riding, and walking about, and I am so glad I can breath well and deeply, as the damage to my left lung was extensive…it turned out I had more broken ribs than the original CT scans showed at the time of the accident…one in particular was really odd, broken at an angle! And in 2 places! So, to put it into a nutshell, don’t judo throw me across the room, I’ll break, and don’t ask me to jack up your car and change a wheel…it’ll not get done, and I’ll look silly!!
BUT, well…with some care, for what is a realisation- Please belt up in your cars, and look out after yourself out there, even a slow spill, can really ‘screw up’ your day.
