T. Foley is an artist who shares strategies and techniques for using digital media consumer tools as a means for creative expression and community reflection. Her current project, Locally Toned is a public art/original ringtone creation project. A not-for-profit venture, it creates original ringtones, and then provides free distribution via the Web and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). This art project utilizes the airspace as public property for purposes of sonic transmission--the work “performs itself” when Locally Toned participants receive calls on their cell phones. Her short video work has screened internationally, and she enjoys making music videos for artists like Puerto Muerto and Erin McKeown.
