My name is Moritz Grünke. I am an artist based in Berlin, working with riso printing and design. I am very into artzines, which is why I write a blog about self-publishing artists, and I am one half of the small press called Gloria Glitzer (with Franiska Brandt). I also support the Free Music Archive as a community curator.
Nice Cover is my collection of great sounds and beautiful cover artworks that I really enjoy. It's a blog dedicated to free music, mostly under Creative Commons, and I also encourage supporting the artists via flattr, donations, purchases and other means.

I still run this blog dedicated to creative commons music with great cover art but i moved it to www.nice-cover.com. Because it’s more comfortable for me to post things and it’s easier for readers/listeners to find and browse it. I still love the FMA and i will continue adding cc music to the archive…

The artwork cames by the musicans and in my mind it's very lovely.
There is also a very funny minisite for this release. You'll find it here.
Some nice words of Tracky about this Album:
»When I was a kid my favorite game was "the folding game": one person draws a head on a piece of paper, folds that part back so that the other person can only see where the drawing ends. Then the other person has to draw the body, fold that as well and so on.
My friend Pierlo in Rome and I always wanted to make music together, and we were looking for a good way to bridge the distance without losing the fun. So we tried to copy the principal of the folding game onto our music, creating a technique we like to call primixing, which is different from just remixing. One person prepares the rough base for a song, leaving it open what musical direction to follow. The other person remixes that base and adds new elements, then returns it. This can go back and forth until the song seems complete.
Unlike making music on your own, you have to keep in mind that what you compose is to be left open and accessable. It is like passing the ball to each other, while it starts out easy and assisting, and turns out difficult, complex or just funny….«

Eyes on this wonderful Cover art for the swedish band Bakers at Dawn. For »You Must Hide Your Love Forever«, published on Peppermill records, Jon McNaught created a wood cut that looks as brilliant as the album sounds like. A cover that matches perfect to the album mood.

Hazardous Guadalupe from Baltimore with their album Vegetable Bibliography. Again a collage-style cover. But this one ist different. A limited edition of 100 cds with hand-made sleeves designed by Decapitated Hed.

The Cover art was done by mail art-legend Michael Leigh a.k.a. A1 (a very intersting interview with A1 you'll find here and his mail art archive here) with a little modification by Andreea Cornu and Ton Rückert.
A highres-picture you'll find here

Today enjoy Thee Oh Sees rough »Peanut Butter Oven EP« and keep an eye on this beautiful cover artwork. As far as i realized the artwork was done by Chris Johanson an artist from San Francisco (you will find some paintings of him here).

A nice serigraphy-artwork for Manuel J. Grotesques weird »Flic flac no core sur le mont perdu« album released on the Galerie Pache label. The artwork was done, as far as i realized, by Loulou prod. from Bordeaux.
