Slowly But Surely...
Slowly but surely I'm uploading highlights from the all of the Phoning It In episodes recorded to date, over the course of three radio stations, five hosts, and 500+ guests from three continents. Recent uploads include:
-Some really unhinged blues from John Roundcity & Dooley Wilson;
-The Magnetic-Fields-on-banjo stylings of The Harvey Girls;
-Teenbeat legends Mark Robinson and Evelyn Hurley's latest project, Cotton Candy;
-Folk punk's finest, Madeline;
-Goat Bell's Chicago hardcore;
-Mild Winter's country lullabies;
-And Derek Joe Brockett's heavy-as-sin country dirges.
Still to come: Blevin Blectum, Lou Barlow, Cryptacize, Shark Toys, and more, more, more!

Some more Phoners...
What's a newly funemployed dude to do? Why, catch up on FMA uploads at last, of course. Got a job? Get in touch.
New old live, over-the-phone sets posted from Doug Gillard of like a million bands, most notably GBV; Chriss Sutherland of Cerberus Shoal and Fire on Fire; and PDX experimental popsters The Polyps and The Ocean Floor.
With more on the way, for real this time: some truly insane blues from John Roundcity & Dooley Wilson, Philly treats from The Trolleyvox and Fern Knight, and Cotton Candy, the latest from indiepop legends Mark Robinson, Evelyn Hurley, and family.

Why I shouldn't be hosting PII...
I only posted two Phoning It In sets today, but they're two absolute faves. And yet I find myself tongue-tied as to how to describe them.
Enjoy.

And there is more...
Just a quick note to sum up the uploading that took place today:
-Space-pop from Detroit's Slumber Party.
-The exuberant Bible-pop of Half-handed Cloud.
-Franklin Bruno, lo-fi's learned elder statesman.
-Drone and (what elese?) spoken word from Eric de Jesus Is Spoken Word (feat. Fursaxa).
-The Black Swans' cracked Southern Gothic tales, phoned in from a hijacked college dorm room.
Alright, more soon, and as always, more, more, more at phoningitin.net.

Phoning It In?
"Phoning It In? What's that?"
Yeah, so I've been phoning it in myself recently, but soon enough I'll be all caught up with uploading Phonings It In to the FMA and will be able to do it in REAL TIME (instead of fake time).
In the mean time, here're a bunch more old Phoning It In episodes new to the FMA:
-Sterling (as sterling as something can sound over the phone, anyway) indiepop from Brown Recluse.
-Two jammin' sets from MV + EE.
-The lo-fi doo-wop of La Guerre des Mitaines, from pop mastermind David Barclay (of the Diskettes and the Endless Bummer).
-Providence, RI's the 'Mericans' reverently skewed Americana.
-And last but by no means least, a set from Portastatic that I still can't believe happened.
As always these and more can be found at phoningitin.net.

Breaking radio silence
So after sitting on this for months, the folder of signed CC agreements bulging to capacity, I've finally gotten around to uploading more over-the-telephone performances, with even more to follow in the coming weeks. For now, briefly:
-Chanteuse, improviser, and 'FMU fave Marianne Nowottny.
-Alina Simone's slow burning sesh.
-Storyteller extraordinaire Jacob Smigel.
-Portland's very writerly Minor Thirds.
-Canadian dance sensations HANK.
-And jawdropping one-man-band Jawbone.
So, nu, go listen! And I'll be posting sets from Picastro, Brown Recluse Sings, MV & EE, and more very soon.
To hear the most recent Phoning It In sets, head on over to KDVS, where Phoning It In is on the air every Monday from 7:30-8pm PST. Each show is archived on their site for two weeks, and someday in the not-too-distant future I'll upload to the FMA recent sets from Chrome Wings, Lover!, Pure Ecstasy, Soul-Junk, and Pumice, just to name a few!
Stay tuned, as they say.
