On May 19th, 2011—the first night of Blip Festival 2011 and, fittingly, the night of my performance—my first professionally mixed and mastered CD will be released. It is a fancy re-issue as a Digipak wrapped in brand new artwork of my last two 8bitpeoples EPs, "Left" [2009] and "Derecha" [2010], captured as they've morphed over years and months performing them live around the US, England, Portugal, Denmark, Poland, Hungary and most recently, Brazil. The last track, "Subimago", was written a couple of months ago in San Francisco, California.
I'm very excited about the disc and how its post-processing will be received by a scene generally opposed to post-production. With the re-mixing and remastering, this collection is sonically closer to matching the dynamics of my live shows. While it's not drenched like an '80s Paul Simon record, its undeniably a chip music album with seven trillion channels dripping in reverb. The bass has been tightened up and pumped, too. It sounds good. Real good.
And with the right set-up, it'll unload right onto peoples' chests and straight to their bottom ends. It's dirty dance music, afterall.
