Mixtape podcast

I just discovered the podcast The Mixtape. Wow, what a fantastic job Tim Buckwalter has done selecting and sequencing songs. Not sure if every show is 100% FMA, but the first episode is. I enthusiastically unreservedly recommend checking it out:

Hey, lady! Found you elsewhere on the web recently. It was such a treat to see your words! Think of you often, as I seem to follow the tracks the little bird who has found great music! Here's hoping the season is treating you well, jessibird! Love from a fan!

Oops, just remembered I can't play that playlist for commercial purposes. We're a for-profit company, but the event is free and open to the public. Does that count?

A co-worker asked me to put together a playlist for a public event -- to play in the lobby where people come in. Free Music Archive artists fill the bill!

Gal, I love it when I find something new in the FMA and you have already put your stamp of approval on it! It happens regularly. Gives me a smile every single time. Raising a cup to you, Jessibird, my sister in music adventures!

Thanks Joe, but I'm not a musician myself, just an appreciator. I also admit to a bias toward melody and rhythm, though I don't mind a little noise mixed in for spice ;)

No offense to the other artists here, but thank you for making music with a tempo and a tune!

A friend is looking for instrumentals to play for art students to draw to - stuff to stimulate the creative process. I finally thought to send her here, doh! Where else would one find such a varied, extensive collection of creativity-stimulating sounds!

I've been busy discovering old-timey jazz and blues over at archive.org. Sometimes I feel spread too thin in my listening. But what was I put on this earth for if not to attempt to hear all the good music on the planet!

"The hand-drum was just as she had described. It was made out of human skulls – children’s skulls to be precise. Over the highly polished crania was stretched a thin membrane of human skin. The waist of the drum was circled with a silver ring embossed with turquoise stones and red coral. “One skull is female, the other is male”, she explained. “It symbolises the union of wisdom and compassion. It’s very powerful. If you get one made out of babies’ skulls that’s even better – something to do with the energy flowing through the opening in the fontanelles.” " ----------------------------And also thigh-bone trumpets: http://www.travelintelligence.com/travel-writing/skull-drums-and-thigh-bone-trumpets

I'm wishing I could just hang out here instead of doing my paid work today. Maybe some Victrola will take the edge off my website coding struggles.
