SXSW is underway right now down in Austin TX. Between the interactive, film and music portions (not to mention taco, bbq and beer portions), SXSW is a many armed beast. With so many great bands descending on Austin this week, it's a great opportunity to pull some gems from the FMA library.

Here's a 2-part mix featuring free & legal mp3s by 122 artists who'll be in Austin during SXSW Music (March 13-18):

Big thanks to kingmmm1234 for helping research and compile this playlist!

I'm curious, how many of these are remixable, that is, not -ND or the FMA license?

Hey Doug, this mix wasnt really done with remixing in mind--it's mostly download-only and Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives. I know your podcast sticks to ShareAlike at minimum, and the YACHT instrumentals come yo mind off the top of my head

just to clarify, -NC is our maximum. The vast majority of the music we play is -NC though. Personally, Tom and I use BY-SA, but we play BY, Public Domain and, apparently, now the Free Art License (http://artlibre.org/licence/lal/en). I mention this for any musicians that want to suggest tracks to us because I do not want to scare them off of submitting. This is not the place to discuss why Tom and I use BY-SA...I mean, unless you want to here. It is your blog after all. :)

As somewhat of an aside, I think we have played YACHT before...I didn't double check though, so that could be a false statement.
