Garrett Ammon is an acclaimed choreographer who began his tenure as artistic director of Ballet Nouveau Colorado (BNC) in 2007. Since that time, BNC has garnered national attention and praise for its daring work, including being named one of Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch" (2009). Ammon was also recently honored as a Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Livingston Fellow (2011).

A prolific dancemaker, serial collaborator and self-professed tech geek; Ammon has created more than 40 dance works over the past twelve years. He has conspired with artists across an array of disciplines and developed a trademark aesthetic that seamlessly blends tradition with adventurous new ideas. Ammon has forged a deep creative relationship with poet Michael J. Henry which has produced When the Power Goes Out (2009) and the multimedia, evening length production Intersection (2009). He also worked closely with director Chip Walton to create Curious Theatre Company's award winning production of Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice (2009) and with painter/sculptor Mark Allen Henderson to create in pieces (2010).

Ammon's passion for collaboration has also led to the celebrated production Carry On (2011) with Colorado band Paper Bird, Vagabond Hill (2011) with singer/songwriter Jesse Manley, and A Stitch in Time (2011) with textile artist Theresa Clowes and cellist James Bailey. Most recently, Ammon worked with digital artist Kristopher Collins to create the multimedia experience Love in the Digital Age (2012).

As a dancer, Ammon was a member of Houston Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theatre and Ballet Memphis. He also toured to Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Vail International Dance Festival and Wolf Trap for three summers as a founding member of Trey McIntyre Project. During his performance career, he danced leading roles in world premieres by McIntyre, Julia Adam, Mark Godden, Lila York and Ben Stevenson, as well as principal roles in ballets by George Balanchine, Bebe Miller, Septime Webre and Donald Byrd.

Ammon lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife and muse Dawn Fay. They have worked alongside each other continuously since they first met in 1999.
